I do believe in having music on during class in a variety of settings. I am a music teacher and studied the effects. Especially use Baroque or Classical music for studying. For some reason, kids are able to concentrate better while it is on.
My music blogs may give some insight.
In the mean time, do whatever works for you!
Enjoy!
